Marking Fields In Fixed Width Files просмотров - 327
First Row has Field Descriptions
Select Format
Step 1
Match Title Only (Update Mode Only)
Import or Update Mode
Select a Template
Once a text file import has been set up and all fields are defined you can save it as a template for later reuse. In this window you can select a previously saved import template.
To use a template click Use a Template, select your template from the box labeledSelect a Template to Use and click OK. If you don't want to use a template click Don't use a Template and click OK.
You must choose whether you will be Importing new songs or Updating existing songs. In Import Mode all songs and all marked fields in the text file will be added to the database. Songs already in your database will not be updated or modified.
In Update Mode songs will not be added to your database. Instead existing songs will only be updated. When a song is updated only marked fields will be updated, except Title and Artist. The Title and Artist fields will not be updated in update mode.
Match Title & Artist (Update Mode Only)
This choice means that only a song with a perfect match in both the Title and the Artist field must exist if a song is to be updated. Whenever a perfect match is not be found you will be prompted to choose a song from a list of close matches. See Interactive Mode later in this help topic.
This is especially useful if you are importing from a text file where artists are spelled differently. For Example: If artists in the text file are entered "Last Name, First Name" but in your Powergold 2000 database they are entered "First Name Last Name".
Once your choice is made, click OK and that brings you to Step 1 of the Text File Import Wizard.
In Step 1 click the Select Import File button and locate the file you want to import. Once it is selected you can see it in the Sample View box. Click the Next button to move to Step 2.
In the Select Format box in Step 2 choose Fixed Width if your text file has fixed width columns. Choose Delimited if your fields are delimited with a certain character like commas or quotes.
Place a check in this box to ignore the first row of your text file. In some text files the first line is a description of each field and should not be imported as a song.
In delimited files columns are automatically identified for you. In Fixed Width files you have to mark the beginning of each column. Notice a row of dots that looks like a ruler stretching across the width of the window. When you click on this ruler a B appears on the ruler marking a field beginning. Place a B marker where each new field begins, just above the first character of the field. To get rid of a B click on it and it disappears.
